Understanding MOTO
MOTO is a funny little word which stands for Mail Order / Telephone Order. This probably makes it seem even more confusing. Basically, you typically do not see your customers face-to-face, and often key-in your transactions either on a payment gateway, or on a physical terminal. If the majority of your sales come in through phone, mail, and/or e-mail, you are considered a MOTO merchant. MOTO merchants hold an account type which differs from accounts setup as Retail or Restaurant. MOTO merchants MUST key in at least 50% of their transactions. Since this account has much more room for error, as the customer data is manually entered, the Visa/MasterCard/Discover Interchange rates are higher than accounts with card-present transactions. Rest assured, RedFynn has features in place to ensure we keep your processing costs low.
MOTO merchants:
- Do not typically see customers face-to-face.
- Must key-in at least 50% of their transactions.
- Have a higher Visa/MasterCard/Discover Interchange rates.

How It Works:
Customers call in, mail, and/or e-mail their orders to you, and provide their credit card information for payment.
You will then key-in the payment information into a terminal or payment gateway.
Payment information is sent to the card processing company.
Next, the Issuing Banks will send either a decline or an authorization.
